Why Rural Superheros?

Spider-Man, Batman, Superman.  New York, Gotham, Metropolis. It's almost a given that superheroes live in a city. The stakes are usually thought to be higher and bigger buildings = bigger destruction. So this begs the question, why write a superhero novel in a rural setting? What evil is there to fight in the middle of the woods? To begin with, even though only 1 in 5 Americans live in rural areas,  97% percent of American land is considered rural. That's a lot of land! Take North Carolina after Hurricane Helene last year; floods destroyed infrastructure and homes, roads were washed away preventing transportation and EMS from getting where they needed to go, there were prolonged power outages, and some areas went without potable water for over 50 days. Outline October

The leaves are turning, tea is brewing, and a chill runs up my spine. Not because of Halloween, but because NoQuWriCo is less than a month away! Introduction

Why, hello there! My name is Naomi Morgan, lovely to meet you all. I am a writer, collector of "grandma hobbies" (knitting, canning, candle making, and the like), and most importantly, I am a Christian. On this blog, I share snippets of where I am in my writing journey, encouraging stories, and biblical truths. Current Writing Projects My current project is called Project: Emergence , and is a superhero novel about six individuals who escape from the government facility where they were raised and attempt to live freely. But there's more to freedom than you might think, and the government will stop at nothing to get them back. Full of found family, sweet relationships, medically accurate treatment of injuries, and more! Project: Emergence is currently on its third draft.  Other Stuff? In 2021 I was the first ever winner of the NoQuWriCo challenge with my first draft of Project: Emergence .   I enjoy traveling and have been to five different countries.   My Instagram ...
